The Verge’s 2023 in overview: books, films, and extra

As 2023 attracts to a detailed, it’s time to look again on the 12 months that was. It was an ideal 12 months for leisure and a not-so-great 12 months for the individuals who really made that leisure. It was the 12 months Twitter died, and the 12 months Matter largely didn’t launch. Devices received gadgety-er, pictures received what-is-a-photo-ier, and generative AI was all of a sudden in every single place.

Now by the top of the 12 months, we’ll recap the highs and lows in devices, social media, and leisure, and look forward at how 2024 is shaping up (spoiler: much more AI).
