macos – Safari monospaced font would not assist Cyrillic?

To my surpise, it appears the default Safari monospaced font (that’s, in case you have font-family: monospace in your HTML) would not assist Cyrillic letters. What font does it use? (It appears it’s SF Mono, proper? However SF Mono, if utilized in TextEdit and Xcode, does assist Cyrillic!) Or perhaps it is a bug?

As you may see, the model of Latin and Cyrillic characters could be very completely different:

The identical textual content in uncooked HTML, in an effort to check it your self:

<pre>woodes rogers
a cruising voyage around the world

фёдор каржавин
краткое известие о достопамятных приключениях капитана д'севиля</pre>

Sonoma 14.1.1, Safari 17.1
